Preeclampsia prevention is possible
Download these essential prevention resources for clinicians

With preeclampsia affecting 1 in 12 pregnancies1,it's now more urgent than ever for clinicians to remind patients that prevention is possible.

This toolkit is a collection of resources created in honor of Preeclampsia Awareness Month May 2024. The goal is to increase the number of patients who are aware of optimal preeclampsia prevention strategies.

Perspectives on the Preeclampsia Prevention Toolkit

This Care Plan promotes preeclampsia prevention with the first-ever evidence-based guideline for physicians and checklist for patients of existing, accessible interventions. Together with objective, predictive testing that is on the horizon, this Care Plan will translate prediction of risk into prevention of disease for real-life patients.

From authors of the First Comprehensive Care Plan To Prevent Preeclampsia

“By centering preeclampsia survivors as experts and co-authors, alongside clinicians, researchers, and payers, we have produced a practical and proactive comprehensive Care Plan. It is written in clear and simple language, can be easily incorporated into electronic health record (EHR) systems, and is designed to be a cooperative plan for both women and their care teams. With consistent implementation in any setting, we expect this Care Plan will help address inequalities in maternal care.”
Eleni Tsigas, CEO of the Preeclampsia Foundation and one of the co-authors
“This new comprehensive Care Plan, developed by a diverse group of preeclampsia experts, payers, and advocates is a specific and clear set of recommendations based on peer-reviewed evidence and expert opinion.”
James Roberts, M.D., a Maternal-Fetal Medicine researcher at the Magee-Womens Research Institute, UPMC and founding Principal Investigator of the Global Pregnancy Collaboration and one of the lead authors.
